Architecture
Data Cloud integration
Bringing CRM, Marketing Cloud, and third-party data together into a profile that segmentation and activation can rely on.
- Data Cloud
- Data modeling
- Identity resolution
- Activation
The problem
Unifying data sounds like a pipeline task and is mostly a definitions task. Two systems can both have a 'customer' and mean different things by it, and the difference only becomes visible when a segment produces a count nobody can explain.
Approach
Map each source to the data model deliberately, including the fields you choose not to bring in and why.
Agree the matching rules before looking at match rates, so the rules are not quietly tuned to produce a flattering number.
Trace one real profile end to end — source record, unified profile, segment membership, activation payload — before trusting any aggregate.
Decide where consent is enforced on the activation path, not after it.
What I'd tell someone starting this
- Agree matching rules before you see match rates.
- Validate one profile end to end before trusting counts.
- Consent belongs on the activation path, not downstream of it.
