What it was

Construction sites run on spreadsheets, paper, and phone calls. Consinsta replaced parts of that with one system: material and equipment inventory, a customer record, attendance, and the financial workflows that sit on top of both.

My role

Founder and CTO. I designed the modules, built most of the platform on PHP, CodeIgniter, MySQL, and JavaScript, and worked directly with the people who had to use it on site.

What it taught me

Software for people who are not at a desk has different rules. A form that is fine in an office is unusable in a hard hat with one hand free and patchy signal.

The hardest part of replacing a spreadsheet is not features. It is that the spreadsheet encoded a dozen local exceptions nobody wrote down.

What I'd tell someone starting this

  • Field software lives or dies on input friction.
  • Undocumented exceptions are the real migration cost.
